Terry Stoltz has been practicing admiralty and maritime law for 45 years. He has litigated numerous maritime disputes involving both ocean-going and inland vessels, including collisions, allisions, groundings, cargo damage, general average, hull and machinery insurance, P&I insurance, pollution, salvage, wreck removal, and mortgage foreclosures. He handles cases under the Supplemental Admiralty and Maritime Rules of the U.S., including Rule B maritime attachments, Rule C in rem arrests, Rule D possessory actions, and Rule F limitation of liability actions. Terry also counsels clients during casualty investigations conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard, National Transportation Safety Board, and vessel flag states.
He has extensive experience in maritime and commercial arbitrations and mediations involving charter party disputes, bills of lading, vessel sales, and commodity sales contracts, including proceedings before the Society of Maritime Arbitrators and the American Arbitration Association. He also advises clients engaged in London arbitrations and serves as both arbitrator and mediator.
Terry represents oil and commodity trading companies in connection with both transportation contracts and purchase and sale agreements. He is frequently consulted on dispute resolution and contract drafting to protect client interests.
After graduating from Columbia Law School, Terry began his legal career at Burlingham Underwood & Lord, where he became a partner in 1981. He joined Nicoletti Hornig Namazi Eckert & Sheehan in 2002.
